CROWN LIFTING & CROWN REDUCTION
Preserving a trees health and longevity of life, Crown lifting is where the lower branches of a tree are removed
to effectively raise the crown to a recommended height or requirements of the job spec. The height is raised by the removal of whole branches or removing the parts of branches which extend below
the desired height. This is a particularly useful treatment for large garden trees where shading is a problem, as the light cannot come in underneath the tree. Crown lifting is also often carried out for access purposes; lifting the crown allows traffic and pedestrians to pass underneath safely.
A crown reduction is where the crown of the tree is made smaller without spoiling the overall shape and keeping overall aesthetics. This can be done for a number of reasons, such as to reduce the weight in potentially dangerous trees, this is also imperative if trees are obstructing or damaging buildings, power lines or BT cables. In fruit trees this is also often carried out in order to increase light interception and enhancing fruit quality. We normally recommend a ‘Winter’ reduction annually for best health care and crops.
POLLARDING
Pollarding a tree can be beneficial to progressive aesthetics or a health requirement for the trees future. It is an
effective way to reduce the amount of shade cast by trees, it prevents trees from outgrowing their local environment especially in situations where trees might hinder neighbouring properties or overhead cables. Any different species of trees can be Pollarded on a regular basis and in some cases, it can be an effective way to rejuvenate a tree and to prolong its life. Pollarding is a key way to reshape a tree and control its regrowth to specific local positioning.
TREE REMOVALS & DISMANTLES
In some cases trees will have to be removed due to death or structural integrity being compromised. Also unfortunately a tree just may have been established in the wrong place and is causing detriment to local buildings or other trees. Often our removals involve operating in tight and complex
surroundings so we dismantle the tree carefully and in manageable sections to ensure a smooth operation. We have specialist equipment to undertake this task in any scenario. So after our consultancy we can advise how we will undertake this dismantle efficiently and safely for our climbers and surrounding
obstacles. Once the operation is complete we try and make good use of the wood from the tree by donating to local wood users or chipping the produce to create worthwhile material that can be used in the community.
STUMP GRINDING
If the resulting stump is a problem, we can grind the stump out. Usually this is to an approximate depth of 150mm below ground level, although with our specialist equipment we can grind out stumps completely and even eradicate any lateral roots if desired. Also, we can remove excess arisings and additionally spread top soil and grass seed over the immediate area. Supplementary quotations are available for these services.
